Our self-guided tours are fully organized vacations for independent travelers staying in deluxe accommodation.
Self-guided walking holidays may still be regarded as something of an innovation, by it is ten years now since we offered our first self-guided holidays. The freedom and flexibility of going when you want for as long as you want and at your own pace has certainly proved to be the way many people prefer to enjoy their vacations. You have a set itinerary, pre-paid accommodations, luggage transfers if you are walking from hotel to hotel, and a hotelier waiting for your arrival every evening who knows your route in cases of emergency. There is no guide and no group to hurry you along or slow you down.
These tours are for those who wish to be walking to a new town each day rather than being based in a hotel for days at a time.
For these itineraries we recommend that you take one of our transfers to your initial destination.
Optional Cooking Classes may be added to any of these programs upon request

Our hotel collection includes some of the worlds finest in accommodation. We offer elegant inns and hotels that have been included in The Leading Hotels of the World and Relais & Chateaux Luxury. Occasionally we are in smaller places that cannot offer four and five star accommodation, but weve made sure that the hotels we have for you have rigorous quality standards, are friendly, centrally located and the crème de la crème for their area with masterful extra touches .
Your meals:
All of your breakfasts are included to make sure that you have a healthy start to your active day! Picnic lunches are encouraged as much as possible. It is simple to buy your provisions first thing in the morning. Dinners are not included on the self-guided tours because many of you want to explore and choose your own culinary experiences.

If you are interested in this type of a holiday, we assume you are a reasonably active person who enjoys walking. None of the routes are extreme; they are all planned around seeing the sights and enjoying the scenery.

Moderate: Rolling hills, six hours a day walking, with some uphill climbs.
Challenging: Five to six hours walking with longer ascents and steeper downhill.
